OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DEPARTMENT:
At Empower, our Occupational Therapy Program offers services to children with or without the diagnosis of Autism. Children can receive benefits while attending the Empower Programs. If your child does not need behavioral services, they can be brought to the school by a parent or caregiver to receive “Occupational-only” therapy services.
Our Occupational Therapy pathologists are licensed by the State of Texas and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the American Occupational-Therapy Association.
Empower continues to offer individual (one-to-one) occupational therapy with your assigned occupational-therapy-pathologist. However, if you are concerned with direct person-to-person contact, or travel distance makes it challenging to reach our school, then our occupational department can offer therapy through tele practice. If preferred, this practice can be chosen on a short-term basis during the current pandemic or a long-term basis.
Occupational Therapy improves the cognitive, physical, social and motor skills of neurologically different children.
For children with Autism, OT programs focus on self-care and learning. They also help with sensory issues. The therapists will analyze the child to identify the obstacles that prevent them from daily activities. The goals are created based on individual needs.
